I am so excited!!!!

As you may know, I've been managing my life in overdrive since January.  I'm pounding out my thesis, grading 80 student written magazines, tests, scifi/fantasy short stories, school law class stuff and creative writing class stuff.  I really haven't taken time for me except to collapse in bed and carefully examine the backside of my eyelids.

Then I found out about the Forum on Children's Literature that is taking place next weekend at UVU.  My school has agreed to pay for the conference, a co-teacher with a student teacher is going to cover my classes so I don't have to pay a sub, I don't have class to go to, get to stay with Harmony and just have two days of inspiration.

I CAN NOT WAIT!!!

Shannon Hale is going to be doing several workshops along with many others that are just what I've been looking for - I will go, learn, refresh, be inspired and just have two days of doing things I want to do because I want to do them.

Then I will come back, work my tail off, plan three birthdays in 16 days, enter end of quarter grades, revamp my thesis, work out the details of Will's upcoming baptism, probably list my house which means touch up paint, fix that towel rack that one of my lovely children used as a monkey bar, burn all the weeds in my yard, need to lay sod, plant flowers, prep for a new book....

It'll be fun to have you stay with us. Hope it will be a relaxing time for you.

List your house? Got a place to move to when it sells? Good luck!

Oh, that sounds heavenly! I wish I could go with you. I love Shannon Hale also. The rest of the things you have going on don't sound so heavenly, though. I'm tired just reading your post! I, like Harmony, am curious about you listing your house. Are you guys moving soon? Into Cedar City? Please expound! I'm starting to feel like our house will never be ready to list. Every time I accomplish one thing I see about 5 more that need to be done. Depressing!

I'm excited for you, too, Tasha. I attended the Utah Valley Forum on Children's Literature about 8 years ago when I was teaching the "Utilizing Literature in the Classroom" course at SUU. It was lots of fun. Another year, I may try to go with you!!

Oh, and I know you've got some ideas for children's books. You might look at Paula's brother's page (linked to her website) and see his art. Maybe you could hook up with an artist whose kind of in the family.

I'm totally jealous that you're going to the conference. I just can't figure out how I'd enjoy doing it while also taking breastfeeding breaks. I hope you have a lot of fun.

Have you heard of BYU's writing for Young Readers conference? It is also fabulous. You should look into it.
